wake up.
sensing no fluster, no worry.
no difference.
just a conversation.
something about something moving on.
was there a word of death?
the words went past like a cloud.
abit set in, and pulling myself.
we went, down.
he took 2 bags in his hand.
i took a bigger sack.
as we approached, with fear, sadness.
lifting the cover open for the last time,
she lay, lifeless at last.
lying down, her head pressed to the side.
her eyes, once red with ruby, now an empty black, half open.
little ants that crawled on her cold fur.
lifting her slowly, her once soft touch became stiff, rock-like.
putting into the bag, wrapping away.
it became our little procession.
i looked away at the sky.
it had not been exactly excruciating either.
my loss echoed my fears which i long felt.
my knowledge that brought forward a pain.
i wondered at my composure and my strength.
as i bade goodbye for the last time.

in loving memory of amy the rabbit, 2001-2009.
